Marla Kinkade brings more than two decades of diverse operational and managerial experience to her role as Village Trustee. Her professional background includes ten years of hotel management, seven years in retail management, and over twelve years of running her own small welding and metal-art business. She currently serves as Operations Manager for a small excavation company, overseeing daily operations, budgeting, staff coordination, and project execution.
Marla has proudly served as a Village Trustee since 2011 and is currently the Chair of both the Ordinance Committee and the Public Properties Committee. Her leadership style is grounded in fairness, honesty, and a commitment to responsible, smart spending on behalf of Dwight residents.
A dedicated member of the Dwight community, Marla appreciates the village’s small-town character, friendly atmosphere, and slower pace of living. While she does not participate in additional community organizations due to potential conflicts of interest and the time commitments of her metal-work business, she remains deeply engaged in representing residents’ needs at the Village level.
Marla’s priorities as Trustee include advocating for “the little guy,” ensuring transparency, supporting the growth of local businesses, and promoting thoughtful, fiscally responsible development. During her term, she hopes to help guide Dwight toward continued growth, welcoming new additions and fostering a strong, sustainable community for current and future residents.
Outside of her public service, Marla enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors. She is also a committed advocate for TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) programs, supporting efforts to humanely manage and protect community cat populations.
